Dublin protest - I blame Pat Kenny

The Guardian says there were over 100,000 protesters, so did the organisers but RTE said it was 40-50,000 but then again RTE is a disgrace so I wouldn't be inclined to listen to them. Whatever the number it felt like plenty of people. It's great they came out considering the conditions. I know nothing will come of it because the government don't care and don't feel any sense of shame. They will acknowledge it but continue as they so please anyway. That's how Ireland works it seems.

There was a bit of a 'up the republic' theme which I didn't think was necessary but the most important thing, in my eyes, is that the world media see that we're not happy, that it is not our doing but a select few, an elite that have brought this country to it's knees. I hope they know that and will see  how angry the people are.

There was talk of the protests becoming a regular thing, like Thursdays in Argentina. Perhaps we should show up every week and cause a ruckus. Even to just get in the way, make some noise and piss a few TDs off.

Once it was over and we could barely feel our toes we headed off for a hot whiskey on Capel st. So did most people by the looks of it. The bar ran out of glasses as we all huddled by the fire drinking our hot whiskeys, some in pint glasses. Those with a bit more fight in them headed to the Dail for a spot of egg pelting/poster burning but perhaps with not enough gusto, only one person got arrested out of thousands. One. C'mon!

Incidentally my favourite poster of the day belonged to a woman, walking the opposite way to the crowd. Her placard read :

' Stop Pat Kenny etc. Don't pay your TV licence.' (she actually had the etc. in there)

You gotta pick your battles yknow?

Arcade Fire - Ready to Start

This is my personal favourite from 'The Suburbs'.
Think we all know this feeling wha!?

Now you're knocking at my door
Saying please come out with us tonight
But I would rather be alone
Than pretend I feel alright

Girls are better than boys, I knew it!

Great song and really love the lyrics:
So can you understand?
Why I want a daughter while I'm still young
I wanna hold her hand
And show her some beauty
Before this damage is done

But if it's too much to ask, if it's too much to ask
Then send me a son
